Webcam Orasul Busteni

The town of Busteni is situated in the Prahova Valley, in the heart of the Bucegi Mountains in Romania. Its history dates back to the 18th century when the first permanent settlements were established in the area. In 1782, Prince Mihai Sutu founded the hamlet of Izvor, marking the beginning of the town’s development. Over time, Busteni experienced significant growth, evolving from a small hamlet into a modern town. Its development was influenced by improvements in transportation and the touristic appeal of the region. In 1846, the construction of the Campina-Predeal road greatly increased the town’s accessibility. Additionally, the establishment of the Ploiesti-Predeal railway in 1879 strengthened connections with other cities in the country.

An important moment in the town’s history was the founding of the Schiel Paper Factory in 1882, which brought an influx of workers and contributed to the town’s economic and social development. During the interwar period, Busteni was an active cultural and educational center, with a vibrant cultural movement centered around the paper mill.

In 1908, Busteni and Poiana Tapului formed the commune of Busteni, and in 1946, Busteni was declared a town. The town continued to expand and modernize, becoming an important tourist and leisure center in Romania. Situated in a spectacular mountain landscape, Busteni attracts tourists eager to explore the beauty of the Bucegi Mountains, enjoy winter sports, and relax in a picturesque natural environment.
