The Millennia Oak from Cajvana is an impressive natural monument with a remarkable history and age. Declared a natural monument in 1942 by the Romanian Academy, this oak is one of the most important trees in southeastern Europe and ranks 13th among oaks on the entire continent.

With a circumference of 11.01 meters, this oak is immense, and its height of 22.4 meters makes it an impressive presence in the local landscape. With an estimated age of over 800 years, it is considered the oldest tree in southeastern Europe.

The oak from Cajvana has a special significance for the local community and is surrounded by the legends and traditions of the area. According to a local legend, Voivode Stephen the Great is said to have rested in the shade of this tree in 1476, but its history could be much older. According to accounts passed down from generation to generation, it is said that the oak was planted in memory of the residents of Cajvana killed during the Tartar invasion of 1241-1242. The people buried in a common grave at its base, and the tree was planted as a symbol of their memory.
