This district is the original heart of Rotterdam, where the dam in the Rotte River once stood, giving the city its name. This area is full of energy, home to the popular Binnenrotte market, the striking Market Hall (Markthal) with its arched roof, the Cube Houses (Kijk-Kubus), and the Central Library (Centrale Bibliotheek Rotterdam) with its unique yellow tubes. You can also spot Rif010, a surf spot in the middle of the city, and even catch a glimpse of the red Willemsbrug bridge spanning the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the city’s north and south.
